How do you get the old, musty, moldy storage smell out of barbie dolls?
So I got this silkstone barbie doll and the previous owner stored this thing in a damp basement or something. It smells horrible – like mold and must and you know that stench of storage – it is disgusting. I have left the box outside for airing for the past week or so but the smell wont go away. So what can I do? I could debox her and washer clothes and her body but her hair is set, I cannot wash that, it will be ruined. So what other options do i have?
I personally don’t like using sprays like Febreze because they only cover up the smell and don’t get rid of it, maybe you could try a small box of baking soda and leave it open inside the Barbie box to deodorize it.
I would wash the clothes by hand and air dry because washers and dryers tend to wrinkle them (and sometimes ruin the dyes/fabric), and give your doll a bath too. Maybe you could take some baking soda and use it as soap too for her body. If the hair still smells you could leave her in the doll box too with the baking soda and hopefully it will get rid of the horrid smell, then afterwards you could spray her with a fragrance so she could smell nice
